2024: A reflection

The heights, the depths, and 12 lessons in between

It’s that time of the year again! Continuing my annual tradition of yearly reflection, I’m closing the year by writing lessons learned throughout the year. 2024 has been insanely fast-paced, life-changing, and remarkable with its own twists and turns. When I started the year, learning from previous years, I gave myself realistic resolutions and expectations, I aimed only for slow growth with one thing in mind: I just want to survive the year without breaking myself. 365 days later, the chapter ends with me seeing unexpected growth and gains in a lot of different areas, but not without sacrifices.

If 2023 had been a year of acceptance, 2024 for me has been a year of re-discovery. This year, I found more stability, solitude, and foundation that makes life a little less shaky. I discovered communities — both good and bad, and chose the direction I’m the most comfortable with. I stumbled and fell, I cried and hopelessly struggle in different aspects of life, but I got back up again. When I first moved to the Netherlands, I had a hard time letting go of my past life, and 2.5 years later, I have decided to stop making things to look and feel the same.
